| What is Basal cell? |

|
|
Basal cell is a small round cell found in the innermost part of the top skin layer (epidermis). It is the most common form of skin cancer and affects more than 500,000 Americans each year. One out of every three new cancers is a skin cancer. If untreated, the growth invades and grows deeper into surrounding tissues. Fortunately, this type of cancer almost never spreads to other parts of the body. Chronic overexposure to sunlight is the cause of 95 percent of Basal cell cancers. If tumor cells are found, the growth can be removed almost always in an outpatient setting with local anesthetics. |
